Of course, "we do Windows"... and .NET, and C#, as well as VB 6, et al. But, we also do JAVA, PHP, Perl, Ruby, and others. While we don't typically code on IBM mainframes, we have affiliates and employees who still work on legacy BIG IRON. Cobol, CICS, and DB2 is still common expertise for some of our team members.
When we get to choose, we select the Microsoft framework for development. Their interactive development environment (IDE) seems like a "no brainer" to us and our mostly small and medium sized business partners. Plus, Microsoft's SQL Server database platform is second-to-none. Additionally, we prefer an Agile process verses a Waterfall project methodology (our entire team is trained in Project Management methods through a Project Management Institute (PMI) vendor).
The range of our custom application development is quite broad. We've built dozens of tools for the legal industry (lawyers), medical services industry, and eCommerce space. We modernized a legacy backend and built with a custom USER INTERFACE for a major US-based retailer, and we built an eCommerce application for a major lens wholesaler. We also built tools for automating the purchase of a vehicle and for automatically recording metrics related to Petro-Chemical manufacturing. Some application development efforts were small efforts, lasting just weeks, and others were multi-year efforts.
